COPS Monitoring Hosts Event to Benefit Local Elementary School Children

Boca Raton, FL – August 12, 2015: COPS Monitoring, a leading wholesale provider of nationwide alarm monitoring, invites the public to make a difference for local school children just by donating a few minutes of their time. On Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., COPS will be hosting a SchoolTools Kit building event at its Boca Raton office located at 6251 Park of Commerce Blvd, Suite A to provide much needed supplies to every student attending a local Palm Beach County Title I elementary school.

Backpacks, notebooks, paper, and pencils may seem like the basic tools for most kids as they head back to school, but to many families, necessities like these are considered luxury items. To help fill the need, COPS Monitoring partnered with World Vision, a worldwide humanitarian organization, to host a SchoolTools Kit building event at its Boca Raton office to ensure that every child at Crosspointe Elementary School in Boynton Beach is outfitted with the supplies they need this school year. Providing a child with their own supplies not only gives them the tools they need to succeed, it also builds self-esteem and frees up family resources for other essentials such as food, medicine, and utilities.

"We’ve hosted other events at our six offices and supported World Vision and its partner Mission 500 at various events over the past several years, but we’re especially inspired about this opportunity to lend a hand. This occasion marks the first time we’ve been able to make a difference to local children directly, and the first time we’ll be privileged enough to meet them as we hand-deliver the school supplies the next day."

COPS Monitoring has already purchased the supplies and will be opening its doors on Thursday, August 20th, 2015 to anyone who wishes to stop by and volunteer their time helping to assemble the kits. Each kit will contain the basic tools each student will need to succeed in elementary school such as:

  • A backpack
  • Pens
  • Pencils
  • Notebook
  • Binder
  • Filler paper
  • Pencil Pouch
  • Folder
  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Eraser
  • Ruler
  • Crayons
  • Glue Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Markers
As each kit is assembled, the volunteer will also include a
handwritten note of encouragement to the child.

The team at COPS feels honored to help at risk children and wishes to engage the local community more deeply. McMullen explained that each backpack will not only go home with needed school supplies, each kit will also include a note to the parent or guardian announcing employment opportunities and benefits to qualified candidates and an invitation to apply for a dispatcher position at our Boca Raton central station.
